Instructions

Grate the onion into a bowl.

Add the minced meat, chopped parsley, egg, salt, pepper, and mint.

Crush the garlic and add.

Start mixing all the ingredients together (it's easier if you use one hand to mix).

Start adding the breadcrumbs, mixing or kneading as you go. Keep adding the breadcrumbs and kneading until the meat is firm enough to hold together. Knead the mixture for a minute or two longer.

Form the meat mixture into balls 3cm in diameter and set aside. Cover and refrigerate them if they won't be cooked straight away.

Heat a frying pan over a medium heat and add enough oil to just cover the bottom of the pan. Don't turn the heat any higher than medium or the oil will burn and the köfte won't cook through.

Put some flour onto a flat plate and roll each köfte in the flour to coat.

When the oil starts to smell different it is hot enough. Start adding the köfte to the pan and fry, maintaing the medium heat.

After a minute or two, shake the pan so that the balls roll around. Turn any balls that didn't change position.

Keep doing this until all sides are nicely browned.

Place onto paper towels to drain off excess oil and serve hot or warm with homemade Tomato Sauce.
